SRTR Bios: Takemoto

Dr. Takemoto is an Associate Professor, Joint appointment in the UCLA Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Department of Surgery. He has over twenty years experience in the fields of Histocompatibility and Transplantation. He set up the data collection system for the UCLA/UNOS Renal Transplant Registry in 1987 and was responsible for administering the database. Dr. Takemoto's research has focused on dominant alloepitopes of HLA antigens and allocation issues for renal transplants. He is co-investigator for an HHS grant to promote donation awareness in the Asian communities of Southern California, and is establishing immunologic post-transplant monitoring programs at UCLA.
