Survival on dialysis after transplantation to be presented at ASN 2004

SRTR research exploring survival on dialysis after transplantation will be presented as a plenary session discussion at the 37th annual meeting of the American Society of Nephrology October 29 through November 1 in St. Louis. SRTR investigators will present three abstracts as posters or talks at Renal Week 2004.

Dr. Panduranga Rao of Ann Arbor Michigan will discuss "Survival on dialysis post-kidney transplant failure: Results from the SRTR". This presentation will examine outcomes for the substantial number of patients who return to dialysis after graft failure compared with kidney transplants candidates on dialysis who have never received a transplant. Dr. Alan Leichtman of Ann Arbor will present a free communication on "Expedited placement of expanded criteria donor kidneys for transplantation under a new national policy". "Comparative outcomes of kidney transplantation in the United States and Canada" by Dr. S. Joseph Kim of Baltimore, Maryland, will be given as a poster presentation.

The Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients is administered by URREA in conjunction with the University of Michigan.
